The job

The Department of Microbial Biotechnology is seeking a Postdoc (100%) to work on the project BISON (funded through the Sächsische Aufbaubank / EU Just Transition Fund). The project is currently pending final approval of the funding agency.

Your tasks

In particular we are seeking for a postdoctoral researcher capable of:

  • Developing, constructing, and benchmarking of a tailored electrochemical cell combining anodic mediator recycling and electrosynthesis
  • Comprehensive screening of electrode materials and redox mediators provided by the project partners
  • Design, build and test of electrochemical cell components by rapid prototyping (suing 3D printing)
  • Developing scaling and numbering-up strategies for allowing studies on the system level
  • Planning, building, and operation of a demonstration plant in collaboration with other team members of the consortium
  • Being a team-player for allowing strong collaboration within the BISON team
  • Providing high-quality scientific outputs in the form of journal publications, presentations and technology transfer

Your profile

  • PhD in (bio)process engineering, (bio)electrochemistry, bioreactor engineering, electrochemical process engineering or similar fields
  • Experience with either electrochemical or bioelectrochemical reactors, bioreactor design, control engineering
  • Demonstrated ability to publish and work under tight deadlines
  • Excellent communication skills in English
  • A friendly, flexible, self-motivated, and proactive person who pays attention to detail and enjoys working in a diverse international team
